Inverted Nipples

 

i feel embarrass abt my breast .. im 22 n i love my breast size and wat i don’t like is is that my nipples, they’re inverted .. i read somewhere that inverted are divided into non severe and the severe one where it cannot erect totally while the non severe one can erect for a while .. is there a way to have my nipple not inverted ?? i’ve tried squeezing it out …

THE BREAST DOCTORS SAY:

Nipple inversion of recent onset, especially in a woman in her 40s or older, raises the possibility of cancer that is growing just underneath the breast.

 However, nipple inversion can also be harmless especially if it is long standing and occurs in someone in your age group.   In this group, nipple inversion usually occurs on both breasts.  It is due to fibrosis and shortening of the connective tissue under the nipple, hence pulling the nipple inwards.  It can also be due to chronic inflammation of the ducts behind the nipple.  In mild cases, the nipple can be turned out by gently squeezing it out.  In more severe cases, the inversion can be permanent.

While this type of nipple inversion in your age group is harmless, it can pose a cosmetic problem and possibly difficult breastfeeding. 

Surgery can be performed to evert the nipple, and these are usually done by plastic surgeons.  However, depending on the cause of the inversion, it may recur again in future despite surgery.  It may also affect your ability to breastfeed in future as the ducts behind the nipple may be disrupted during the surgery.
